Aimed at bolstering the educational infrastructure in Benguet, Congressman Eric Go Yap has embarked on a mission to improve the learning conditions for his province mates.

The solon recently secured funding from the national government for the construction of seven new school buildings worth P210 million to be built in various municipalities in Benguet.

“This is a big relief for our students and teachers. We are committed to helping build more school buildings in our province, and we will always make sure to include those in far-flung barangays and those very alarming classroom-to-student ratios are our priority,” Yap said.

Up for construction this year are two storeys of four classrooms in Tacadang National High School in Kibungan, three-storey 13 classrooms and a science laboratory in Ambangeg National High School (Bokod), four storeys of 8 classrooms in Loo National High School (Buguias), two storeys four classrooms in

Liang Primary School (Itogon), three-storey 15 classrooms in Gov. Bado Dangwa Agro Industrial School (Kapangan) three storey 15 classrooms in Taneg Elementary School (Mankayan) and two-storey six classrooms in Indaoac Elementary School (Tuba).

“All of these came from the funds of Department of Education, we are lobbying very hard para dito and we always get creative and resourceful to make sure na mahahanapan natin ng pondo ito. Normally, nakakalimutan ang Benguet, laging budget for repairs and rehabilitation lang ang meron kaya lalong lumalaki yung disparity ng quality ng education compared to other regions. That is not acceptable and that will no longer happen under my watch,” Yap added.

The solon added two school buildings will soon be completed this year with the three-storey – nine classrooms building in Sinipsip National High School (Buguias) and the four-storey – 10 classrooms in Ambiong National High School (La Trinidad).

“Very notable din yung bagong school building sa Tacadang, before, sobrang taas ng cost to build structures doon dahil very remote, hauling pa lang sobrang taas na. But after napalagyan natin ng kalsada, the cost went down hanggang sa naging mas manageable na. Kaya ngayon, sisimulan na din ang construction ng bagong school building doon. That’s one of the reasons why we continue building more roads, so access to basic services will be much easier,” Yap further said.

Yap has long recognized the importance of providing students with conducive learning environments and addressing the pressing need for improved school facilities in Benguet.

The construction of nine new school buildings marks a significant investment in the educational infrastructure of Benguet that will not only provide much-needed classroom space but also offer modern facilities conducive to effective teaching and learning.

“Efforts like these, mga bagong school buildings, are our investment for the future of the province. We need to provide an enabling environment for our people to have more income opportunities by giving them quality education. This is part of our holistic approach to addressing poverty. Ang pangarap natin, lahat ng bata dapat nag-aaral, bawat pamilya, may nakapagtapos ng pag-aaral. When that happens, tataas ang employability natin and the spending power of a family will increase,” Yap closed. ### (PR)
