World Water Day: JHMC Promotes Clean Canals and Waterways

ADVOCACY AT WORK|| In its effort to advocate for water sustainability in commemoration of World Water Day, John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) through its Environment Management Division (EMD) conducted a clean-up drive earlier today, March 22, 2023.

The activity covered significant roadside and canal areas within the John Hay Special Economic Zone (JHSEZ), with the purpose of preventing the accumulation of solid waste that can potentially enter

waterways and inland waters.

During the pre-orientation, EMD Manager Edith M. Mejia highlighted the importance of working together towards water sustainability, as water at this current time is considered a limited resource.

Participated by a total of 38 volunteers from JHMC personnel and on-the-job trainees from Saint Louis University and the University of Baguio, the activity yielded a collection of 35.9 kg. mixed wastes,

fostering a healthy atmosphere and advancing JHMC’s environmental stewardship while also underscoring the importance of volunteerism. END
