WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

“World No Tobacco Day” is an annual awareness day taking place on May 31. It was created in 1987 by Member States of the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness of the harms caused by tobacco products to people, public health, communities, and the environment.

In Baguio City, police officers of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) joined a PLOGGING activity with the Alliance of Legally Married Police Wives (ALPHA -CAR) to help in a worldwide awareness campaign of the WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY.

Dubbed as โ€œContain That Butt”, the police officers together with the civilian volunteers, members of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT), the Local Government of Baguio, and other stakeholders have jogged around the city while picking cigarette butts.

In her observation, ALPHA adviser Ms. Maricar Docyogen shared that the campaign of SMOKE-FREE BAGUIO is working because only three plasticful of cigarette butts were collected during the activity. (PROCOR-PIO)
