Winning Baguio Taekwondo athletes commended anew
City officials recently congratulated and commended the Baguio athletes for winning in the New Face of the Year National Taekwondo Championship last May 20-21, 2023 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that the achievement of the Baguio taekwondo athletes yet again proves that the city is one of the home of world class athletes thereby giving pride and honor to the city and to the whole country.
The New Face of the Year National Taekwondo Championship is an event supported by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)
The event highlighted the progress of taekwondo in the country and gives an opportunity to show and demonstrate their ability and effective techniques and styles and the same event is where the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA) searches for the brightest young talents in the country.
The aforesaid competition was categorized into novice and advanced players with 5 divisions namely; senior, junior, cadet Grade Ramos, Vince Harly G. Lonogan, Rain B. Ramon, Aithan Rafael C. Ogoy, Jheizler, Angelo Fernandez, gold medalists in sparring; Hailey Skye A. Balad, Winter Niamh Scarlet M. Abuan, school and toddler class separately for male and female competitors.
During the said competition, Baguio taekwondo athletes won gold, silver and bronze medals in the event, particularly, Izech Brian Edwin, Charina Therese B. Chumawin, Hailey Skye A. Balad, Frances Hollie E. Nabejet, Stephen Percy C. Buasen, Alexa Rea D. Ramos, Jhazzy Drei K. Gopeng, Zachariah Kane N. Manaloto, Arthur Aludos,, Jr., Ady Rye G. Alquiza, Andrew Vincent Alexander L. Montalbo, Elijah Rae D. Charina Therese B. Chumawin, Khia Mae G. Cortes and Zeick Andre L. Tacay, gold medalists in the individual poomsae; Frances Hollie E. Navejet, Raileigh Misha A. Noble, Arthur L. Aludos, Jr., Carl Benz S. Carag, Zachariah Kane N. Manoloto, Zachary Mitchel D. Galang, silver medalists in individual poomsae; Jaiden Mars S. Tauli, Ryan Clifton E. Nabejet and Zachary Mitchel D. Galang and Lei B. Ramon, silver medalists in sparring; Alexa Rae B. Ramos, Sean Vincent Michael N. Lee, Irish Nicole C. Buasen, Bernice Ria Athaleya I. Pascua, Meagan Zaniel E. Ogoy and Kurt G. Cortes, bronze medalists in individual Poomsae; Carl Benz S. Carag, Cyron Chad B. Chumawin, Jethro K. Gopeng and Suarez Marlowe S.
