Winning Baguio Skateboarders lauded

City officials recently congratulated and commended Rene A. Abad and Albert Paul S. Dannag for bagging the first and second places, respectively in the Tito’s category and Ricardo T. Diaz, Jr. for winning Best Trick in the recently concluded Ilocos On Board 10 Skateboarding Competition held on June 29, 2024 at the Imelda Cultural Center, Batac City, Ilocos Norte.

In a resolution, city legislators stated that it is with great pride and joy that the local government and the people confer the appropriate commendation to Abad, Dannag and Diaz, Jr. for such a feat worthy of emulation by the youth and skateboarding enthusiasts wanting to embrace the said sport.

The council noted that skateboarding is a sport that anyone can actively join as it transcends age, gender, social status and every other social barrier in the society.

Further, skateboarding is now also recognized as an Olympic sport.

In the recently concluded Ilocos on Board 10 Skateboarding Competition held last June 29, 2024 at the Imelda Cultural Center in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, two Baguio-based skateboarders, Abad and Dannag bagged the first and second places, respectively in the Tito’s category 35 years old and above of the said competition.

Moreover, another local skateboarder, Diaz, Jr., bagged the ward for the Best Trick in the same competition that drew the participation of skateboarding enthusiasts from various parts of the archipelago.

The council pointed out that the outstanding performances of the local skateboarders portray unquestionable discipline and sports excellence perfected through years of training and dedication.

According to the body, their accomplishments serve as an inspiration that anyone no matter what age can actually actively be involved in sports as part of healthy living.

Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the Baguio-based skateboarders for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. Dexter A. See
