West Philippines Sea: Societal, Challenges and Impact

BAGUIO CITY – UN Eminent Peace Ambassador & IAWPA Country Director Dr. Maxwell Hagan talks about the issue in the West Philippine Sea during the “West Philippine Sea: Societal Challenges and Impact” in a press conference on August 3, 2024 at the Hotel Supreme, Baguio City together with representative from PRO-CAR led by PLTCOL CAROLINA F LACUATA, Join Task Group Baguio and NICA-CAR.

The topic is crisis significance to this precious nation and also to the whole region around Asia and the Pacific as much as the rest of the nations around the world also have the influence.

It was focused on the West Philippine Sea and also the challenges and the impact that is around the country.

Dr. Hagan said, “Every Filipino must realize that the West Philippine Sea is not for any other country.

We have the fish right there, we have the right to navigate there and in the international waters, nobody owns it.

The will of the Filipinos is what we need to be exposed to the world, that our will is not pretense, it’s genuine, and if we say something, we won’t be putting ourselves behind the scenes politically and also in the social setting,”

He said, that this matter is not just political but it’s a moral matter.

“We want all of us one hand set a fact that we are responsible for whatever achievements or failures come when we leave the responsibility in the hands of only political leaders we tend to lose therefore that the matter of the West Philippine Sea is not just a matter of a sea but it is a matter of the people when the right people speak and the media voice known it is will listen, as much as a mother born Filipino, I also believe that I have to let my voice known saying the impact of the West Philippine Sea is almost affecting missing worldwide,” We accept that the West Philippine Sea is a lifeline of Filipinos it’s not just a sea but it’s a lifeline to many Filipinos,” Dr. Hagan said # Photo by: Mario Oclaman // FNS
