Vegetable packers busted for selling illegal drugs
Over 47 thousand pesos worth of suspected shabu were confiscated from a vegetable packer after a buy-bust operation conducted in Brgy. Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet in the late evening of February 1, 2023.
According to the reports submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, the arrested suspect was identified as Rolando B. Caranto, 37, listed as a High-Value Individual (HVI), and a resident of La Trinidad, Benguet.
The same report disclosed that suspect Caranto was arrested by joint operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) and La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) after he sold one (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.5 grams with Standard Drug Price (SDP) amounting to Php 3,400.00 to a police operative who acted as a poseur buyer.
Further, in the course of his arrest, another six (6) plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 6.5 grams with SDP amounting to Php 44,200.00 were recovered from his possession.
The confiscated pieces of evidence were inventoried on-site in the presence of the arrested suspect and witnessed by Barangay Kagawad Aleve Langbis of Brgy Balili, La Trinidad, and Mr. Denver Bastingo, Media representative.
The suspect and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought into the custody of La Trinidad MPS for documentation and proper disposition while charges for Violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 violation of will be filed against the suspect.
