Updates on Irisan Eco-Park project, bared
Mayor Benjamin Magalong asked city engineer Edgar Victorio Olpindo and city planning and development office (CPDO) head Arch. Donna Tabangin to present the Irisan Eco-Park Environmental Remediation Plan to officials and residents of Irisan barangay before it is bidded out.
Both officials assured the Mayor that this will be done to get whatever suggestions and contributions those in Irisan may have for the project’s improvement which is located at the city’s former dumpsite.
During the regular management committee meeting of local officials, March 29, Tabangin said the project is a collaborative effort of her office, City Engineering Office, City Environment and Parks Management Office, City Buildings and Architecture Office and General Services Office.
Her presentation shows that the plan has five parts: Supplemental re-engineering measures that include slope protection, methane collection and leachate collection systems; and Implement landscaping plan.
Others are: Define ecological index (set baseline measures and goals) of air and groundwater, biodiversity, soil fertility, visual impact and health; develop a business model; and Integrate to the city’s urban green network.
The Irisan Eco-Park plan also reveals the creation of a bamboo trail, dap-ay, labyrinth, Spartan (obstacle race), watchtower/view deck, and more, as features of the Irisan Eco-Park project.
