Unveiling of the Surrender of Gen. Tomoyuki Yamashita’s woodcarving.
The woodcarving sculpture is the work of Ifugao resident, a multi-awarded wood carver Ernesto Dul-ang (middle) who hails from Hingyon, Ifugao, the upland province known for its rice terraces and skilled workers.
In 1945, the Japanese troops led by General Tomoyuki Yamashita were captured in Ifugao. On September 3, Gen. Yamashita formally surrendered here in Baguio City to signify the ending of World War II.
The unveiling ceremony was gracefully led by the guest of honor and speaker H.E.
