UC commended for placing 45th in Entrepreneurial Spirit

City officials commended and congratulated the University of the Cordilleras (UC) for ranking 45th in entrepreneurial spirit, 28th place in industrial revolution and 43rd in student mobility and openness by the World University Ranking for Innovation (WURI).

In a resolution, local legislators stated that the aforesaid feat by the UC shows and continues to uphold the city’s title as the education center of the north where it shows that schools based in the city can also be globally competitive.

WURI is an established international ranking system. Its objective is to move away from conventional rankings that primarily emphasize quantitative metrics associated with resorts and academic systems.

Instead, WURI focuses on recognizing innovative programs that may make a genuine difference in society.

According to the council, this year’s rankings were meticulously organized by the International Policy and Strategy on National Competitiveness (IPSNC) of South Korea.

The IPSNC received invaluable support from four prestigious organizations: the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), HLU, the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies based in Seoul, South Korea, and the Taylor Institute for Franklin University in Switzerland.

Based on the results of the study, UC, a school based in Baguio City, ranked 45th in entrepreneurial spirit, 28th in industrial revolution and 43rd in student mobility and openness in the criteria and categories as ranked by the WURI. – Dexter A. See
