TWO CTG SUPPORTERS VOLUNTARILY SURRENDER IN ABRA AND APAYAO

Two individuals who have been identified as supporters of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered themselves to the authorities in the provinces of Abra and Apayao on January 16 and 17, 2024.

In Abra, a 35-year-old farmer, identified as a member of KLG North Abra, surrendered to the joint operatives of Daguioman Municipal Police Station (MPS), Bucloc MPS, and Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO)- Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU).

During his surrender, he also turned over to the authorities a firearm described as an M14 rifle with a magazine.

Meanwhile, in Apayao, a 45-year-old farmer, identified as a member of the “Militia ng Bayan” operating in the municipality of Lasam and Rizal in Cagayan, has voluntarily surrendered to the joint operatives of Pudtol MPS, Apayao PPO PIU, Regional Intelligence Division- COR, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 and the Philippine Army.

Both surrenderers were brought to the custody of the respective lead unit in charge for proper documentation and custodial debriefing.

Further, the surrender of the CTG supporters is a result of the intensified reintegration efforts of the government for former rebels under the “Task Force Balik-Loob” program and the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or the NTF-ELCAC program.
