“To serve Public more”, Veteran Journalists runs for City Councilor

BAGUIO CITY—”In order to serve the public better, I have decided to file my Certificate of Candidacy for the post of Baguio City Councilor, so said Eddie “Edong Carta” over the week.

Being a broadcast journalist for 25 years, Carta said, has seen a lot of problems that as a journalist, and such has limited powers and resources to solve such problems, entering the city council, he says would be a big advantage to serve more people.

Eddie “Edong” Carta is a well-known figure in Baguio City, having held key roles in various community, media, and civic organizations.

He is a former President of the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations (FPTA) and now serves as a member of the Council of Leaders. During his FPTA presidency, he was also a member of the Baguio City school board.

Carta has been an active member of the PNP-CAR Regional Advisory Group for over 10 years and previously served as the Vice Chair of the Baguio City Police Office Advisory Council.

He has dedicated a decade to the Board of Directors of the Philippine Red Cross Baguio Chapter and previously contributed as a member of the Baguio City Government Multi-Sectoral Advisory Council. Carta also founded the Cordillera Broadcasters Alliance and has experience as a former station manager at BOMBO RADYO Baguio. He continues to share his expertise as an on-call instructor at the CAR Training Center – National Police Training Institute in Teachers Camp.

In media, Carta has been a prominent figure, having worked as a news anchor and reporter for PTV Cordillera and currently co-hosts the top-rated radio program “Tambalang ‘Tatang Edong’ Carta & Jimmy ‘Lolo Doro’ Luzano” on 98.7FM ZRADIO Baguio. Notably, their program has led initiatives such as the decade-long “Tambalang Sagip-Buhay Blood Letting” in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and the “Barya Mo… Dialysis Ko” campaign to support dialysis patients in Baguio.

Carta also hosts “D’ MIB SHOW” online every weekend and manages ECARTA Media Productions & Promotions. As a mentor and trainer, he regularly guides students in broadcasting competitions and serves as a guest lecturer for government agencies on media relations and capability enhancement. ###
