TESDA distributes toolkits for STEP scholars in Cordillera

LOAKAN – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Cordillera Regional Office received 2,711 deliveries of toolkits for distribution to the beneficiaries of the 2019 scholars of the agency’s Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) scholarship.

The toolkit packages are for graduates of courses such as Animal Production (Swine) NC II, Plant Crops (Leading to Agricultural Crops Production NC II), Produce Fertilizer (Leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II), Produce Various Concoctions (Leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II), Raise Organic Hogs (Leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II),Raise Organic Small Ruminants (Leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II),Carpentry NC II, Tile Setting NC II, Plaster Concrete/Masonry Surface (Leading to Masonry NC II),Install Pre-cast Balusters and Handrail (Leading to Masonry NC II),Perform Facial Treatment (Leading to Beauty Care NC II),Perform Facial Make-up (Leading to Beauty Care NC II),Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Bread Making (Leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II),Pastry Making (Leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II),Cake Making (Leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II),Prepare Cold Meals (Leading to Cookery NC II).

“With these new sets of toolkits, you will be able to practice and put to good use the training competencies you have gained from TESDA,” said Sec. Isidro S. Lapena during the ceremonial Turnover of 2019 STEP Starter Toolkits.

The Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) is a community-based training program that seeks to address the specific skills needs of the communities and promote employment, through entrepreneurial, self-employment, and service-oriented activities.

STEP is among TESDA’s scholarship programs that aim to provide free quality technical vocational education and training to deserving beneficiaries in the country.

As of February 22, 2021, initial sets of toolkits have been awarded by the different TESDA provincial offices to the beneficiaries by schedule to avoid mass gatherings. ###
