In La Union, the transportation industry has gotten a new uplift with the launching of a taxi hailing app.
Since the last week of January, commuters from the province of La Union can avail of a taxi unit operating under the Central Ilocos Transport Service Cooperative (CITRANSCO) by using a booking system.
The system is user-friendly which is why we encourage you to get it now!

No more waiting in line or hailing on the streets with the CITRANSCO application.
Getting the app is as simple as 1-2-3.
The CITRANSCO app can be downloaded by Android users through the Google Play for free.
For those who have tried availing of other popular taxi booking apps, features of this app in La Union would no longer be new to any user.
Here are the easy-breezy steps:
First, download the app.
Second, create an account.
Third, input your destination.
Fourth, the app will determine the fare.
Fifth, the available driver will accept your booking.
Lastly, wait for your taxi to arrive at the given location and time.
App launching
The launching of the app was attended by the key players of the new taxi hailing system.
Joel Flores of the CITRANSCO Transport informed that five months ago, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued a provisional authority to their group to provide taxi services in the entire Region 1 with an aim to provide quality, comfortable, and safe transport to their valued commuters.
“At this mileage, to cope with fast growing internet world, CITRANSCO commissioned with PARA-Applications Inc. to develop an app that will cater to the needs and demand of our commuters through online process and thus, the creation of taxi application,” he said.
Further, Atty. Gamaliel Taqued, chief executive officer of the PARA-Applications Inc., shared that upon learning of the launching of taxi service units in La Union, he initially thought that there must be an app which would be beneficial both to the driver and clients.
He said through technology, a driver can minimize the cost of gasoline by searching for chance passengers while clients can book for a taxi anywhere they are at their most convenient time.
“Ang technology andiyan na. Embrace technology. This is for everybody,” he said.
LTFRB-1 Regional Director Nasrudin U. Talipasan also graced the activity and lauded the initiative of the CITRANSCO Corporation in commissioning an app developer.
“Itong pagkakaroon ng taxi hailing app ay world-class manifestation na tayo sa Ilocandia ay sumasabay at nangunguna pa sa takbo ng panahon,” he said, sharing his approval of the timely app.
The regional director added, “Maraming salamat CITRANSCO sa pagpapakita ng pagiging masigasig upang ipatupad ang mga alintunin na ipinapatupad ng ating tanggapan sa LTFRB.”
