Supporters and volunteers launch ‘Tao sa Tao’ house-to-house campaign initiative for VP Leni; celebrities pitch for H2H as election day draws near

Supporters of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo officially launched the ‘Tao sa Tao’ house-to-house campaign initiative on Saturday, April 2.

A ‘grand house-to-house day’ was organized to celebrate its launch, and an event where house-to-house volunteers were expected to share their testimonies was simultaneously held at the Leni-Kiko Volunteer Center in Katipunan, Quezon City.

Tao sa Tao, with its hashtag ‘#TaoSaTaoParaKayRobredo’, is an initiative by volunteers and supporters to step up the campaign for Robredo, running mate Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, and the Leni-Kiko senatorial slate as Election Day draws near. It aims to reach out to more people outside the spheres of solid supporters.

For veteran actress, Agot Isidro, one of the first celebrities to endorse the Leni-Kiko tandem, house-to-house campaigning is a way to reach more individuals and allow them to learn more about Robredo and her platform.

“It’s reaching out to those voters who are not in the rallies. ‘Yun talagang reaching out to the people on the ground who I think are most affected by the outcome of the coming elections,” Isidro said.

She added that apart from being able to spread the word on Robredo and the ‘Tropang Angat’, doing house-to-house campaigning also enables supporters to have conversations with people, learn more about their personal experiences, and share with them what the Vice President has to offer if she becomes President.

“Para sa ‘kin, mas gusto ko ‘yung ganoon [house-to-house] for us to know who we are talking to, di ba? Kasi paano mong masasabi and preach from a grand rally like [the Bohol people’s rally] what people want and what people should expect when we don’t know what they need?” the actress said on the sidelines of the Dilaab: Bohol People’s Rally, which drew an estimated 80,000 people in Tagbilaran City on Friday night, April 1.

For Isidro, campaigning house-to-house, tao sa tao, puso sa puso, is a more inclusive way of campaigning for Robredo. She said: “Sa akin, mas inclusive ‘yung ganoon. We have a certain feel, or a sense of what’s happening to them on a daily basis, where they are economically, financially, and socially. Lahat-lahat so that mas effective in reaching out to them, to address their needs.”

Celebrity supporters like Isidro are putting their influence to good use, participating in the initiative to promote Robredo even more to the masses.

But anyone can join the house-to-house campaign for the presidential candidate. “Even a regular person who wants na magbigay ng ambag sa kampanya, they can just approach anyone–kasama nila sa bahay, kaibigan nila, kahit di nga nila kilala, they can actually just open up and strike a conversation,” Isidro explained.

At the ‘Dilaab: Bohol People’s Rally’, OPM band Ben&Ben also echoed the call to exert all efforts to campaign for Robredo, Pangilinan, and their entire senatorial ticket in the last 37 days of the campaign.

“Gaya ng sinabi ni Presidente Leni Robredo, kung ano ‘yung naranasan niyo ngayong gabi, kung ano ‘yung naramdaman niyo, pag-uwi natin, ikuwento natin sa mga kapitbahay natin, sa mga kapatid natin, sa bawat isang pamilya natin,” they said, adding:

“Lakasan natin ‘yung loob natin na ipaglaban ang isang gobyernong ipaglalaban tayo at pipiliin tayo araw-araw.” [End]
