City officials earnestly reiterated the observance and implementation of Students’ Day in the city as embodied under Ordinance No. 42, series of 2013, which established and declared every second Sunday of September of every year as Students’ Day in the city and allocated funds for the said celebration.
Under Resolution No. 566, series of 2022, local legislators stated that through Ordinance No. 42, series of 2013, the Students’ Day in the city was declared to be observed and celebrated every second Sunday of September every year which must be sustained in the coming years for the benefit of the increasing number of students in the city being the center of education in the north.
During the Scout Official for a Day (SCOFAD) regular session held on November 7, 2022, the SOFAD Council adopted the proposal of SOFAD Councilor Henna Dalen A. Celino which reiterated the observance and implementation of the Students’ Day in the city as per Ordinance No. 42, series of 2013.
The council anchored the approval of the resolution to the existing policy of the State that recognizes the role of youth in nation building and shall promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social wellbeing.
One of the present administration’s core point agenda is empowering the youth which through the said measure provides the students with vast recognition of their role as citizens and productive members of the society.
Copies of the approved resolution will be furnished to the concerned offices for their information, guidance and ready reference.
The observance of Students’ Day is separate and distinct from the annual celebration of the Linggo ng Kabataan which has been put on hold over the past 2 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic that prevented the conduct of in-person gatherings to contain the rapid spread of the deadly virus. – Dexter A.
