SM Foundation promotes Sustainable Agriculture in Isabela

As a steadfast advocate of green and sustainable living, SM Supermalls, through its corporate social responsibility arm, SM Foundation Inc. partners with the Department of Agriculture in a commitment to promote sustainable agriculture through the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) program.

Geared to support the government’s food security agenda and providing alternative livelihood opportunities, the program equips the gardening trainees with modern planting techniques that will enable improved and quality produce – which their families may consume at home or sell as a source of extra income.

SM’s partnership with DA will empower Filipino families to realize the importance of sustainable farming. The Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan program in Isabela is geared to empower farming communities as SMFI strives for an innovative and more sustainable future for all.

About 100 participants identified by the Department of Social Welfare Development, City Agriculture Office, and Barangay Committee will undergo a 14-week KSK on Sustainable Agriculture to be trained by urban gardening trainers from St. Isidore “The Farmer” Learning Center, Inc.

This social good program is in partnership with SM Supermalls, SM Markets, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Local Government of Cauayan City and St. Isidore “The Farmer” Learning Center, Inc.

This year’s Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan on Sustainable Agriculture Program in Isabela will run until November 2024. (PR)
