Six drug personalities were arrested; over P3-M marijuana burned
Day-long conduct of intensified anti-illegal drugs operations in the different provinces of the region resulted in the arrest of six (6) drug personalities and the discovery of more than Php 3 million worth of illegal drugs.
Citing the reports submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO JR., the series of operations were conducted in the provinces of Benguet & Kalinga, and the City of Baguio on March 20, 2023.
The suspects were identified as Christopher A Bajit, 44, High-Value Individual (HVI); John Kenneth C Sambrano, 26, Street Level Individuals (SLI); John Dave S Suan, 24, SLI; Fidel T Coyub, 27, HVI; Shanon M Codiamat, 20, SLI; and Junar A Daguioa, 20 SLI.
In Benguet, suspects Sambrano and Suan were arrested by joint operatives of La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), after they were caught in a drug session in Brgy. Betag, La Trinidad. During their arrest operatives seized one (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.5 grams and with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) amounting to Php 3,400.00.
Also, joint operatives of Tublay MPS and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) arrested suspects Codiamat and Daguioa while in a drug session in Brgy. Ambassador, Tublay, Benguet. Operatives confiscated one (1) plastic sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.3 grams with an SDP of Php 2,040.00 from the suspects.
In Tabuk City, Kalinga, suspect Coyub was arrested by joint operatives of the Tabuk City Police Station and PDEU of Kalinga PPO after he sold three (3) plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 0.3 grams with an SDP of Php 2,040.00 to a police officer acting as poseur buyer.
Moreover, in Baguio City, the joint operatives of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and Regional Intelligence Division (RID) arrested suspect Bajit in Brgy. Loakan Liwanag, after he sold three (3) sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 1.21 grams with Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php 8,228.00 to a police officer acting as poseur buyer.
The inventories of the pieces of evidence recovered were conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ), media, and elected barangay officials.
The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of their respective operating units for documentation while the suspects will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
Meanwhile, the continuous search of PROCOR Cops for clandestine marijuana plantation sites has resulted in the discovery of 15 kilograms of Dried Marijuana Stalks and 6,300 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) with an overall SDP of Php 3,060,000.00 in Brgy. Tacadang, Kibungan, and Brgy. Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet.
