Six busted in Benguet’s Anti-illegal gambling drive
Anti-illegal gambling operatives of Benguet Police arrested six individuals in three separate police operations in the province on March 25 and 28, 2021.
Citing reports from PCOL REYNALDO PASIWEN, Provincial Director of Benguet PPO, the six arrested suspects were identified as Jerwin Diola, Geffson Cuanso Balingan, Amor Dosil Isiada, Joner Atonan Fernando, Mario Singol Poroc and Felipe Calado Tinoy-an.
Suspect Jerwin Diola was arrested in Palina, Taloy Sur, Tuba, Benguet on March 25, 2021 after being caught in the act of collecting Small Town Lottery (STL) bet from a pseudo bettor without the necessary permit from the PCSO.
Similarly, three drivers were nabbed by joint operatives of CIDG Benguet and Tublay MPS for playing tong-its inside a wing van truck parked in a vacant lot located at a Chicken dung storage along the highway at Sitio Kapungan, Caponga Tublay, Benguet.
In the report, the CIDG Benguet operatives were patrolling around the area when they spotted the suspects playing “Tong-its”. Immediately, they coordinated with the Tublay MPS for the arrest of the suspects.
Operatives identified the trio as Geffson Cuanso Balingan, 42, resident of Ampusongan, Bakun, Benguet; Amor Dosil Isiada, 50,and Joner Atonan Fernando, 34, both residents of Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet.
Recovered from them were assorted bills with a total of PHP 850.00 bet money, and one set of playing cards. The suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to Tublay MPS for documentation. They were charged for violation of PD 1602 and were released from detention on March 26 after posting P15,000.00 each as bail bond.
Meanwhile, suspects Mario Singol Poroc, 59, and Felipe Calado Tinoy-an, 67, were arrested during a raid of a cockfighting den at Sitio Payew Alno, La Trinidad, Benguet on March 28, 2021.
As per the report, only two suspects were caught while the others ran when the operatives showed up. Two Jolo fighter Roosters, one notebook containing a list and amount of bet, and a black ball pen were also confiscated.
The violators and confiscated items were brought to CIDG Benguet for proper disposition. (PROCOR RPIO)
