Search and rescue teams recover 2 bodies drowned in Cagayan River
SAN MATEO, Isabela- Through the joint effort of police, Echague Rescue Team and personnel of 502nd Infantry Battalion, the cadaver of the two young men drowned in Cagayan River, Brgy. Gucab, Echague, Isabela were recovered on May 15, 2022.
PMaj. Michael S. Esteban, chief of Echague Police Station identified the fatalities as Christian M Oydot, 18 years old and Mark M Arellano, 21 years old, both residents of Brgy. Del Pilar, Alicia, Isabela.
Reports said Oydot and Arellano joined a tree planting and clean-up drive at Sitio Matartarang, Brgy. Busilelao, Echague, Isabela on May 14, 2022, together with their co-members of St. Peter Parish Anglican Church. Karen M Alcantara, an eyewitness said, Oydot and Arellano were swimming at the river after washing the elf truck they used for transportation when Oydot was seen waving his hand, seemingly asking for help. Arellano immediately acted to rescue but they both disappeared in the middle part of the river.
The bodies were recovered by rescuers in the shallow portion of the river.# MAE BARANGAN
