SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela– More or less 60 personnel of Santiago City Police Office (SCPO) benefited from the Legal Aid Tour dubbed “Pulis Santiago, Lingkod Bayang Totoo” of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Isabela Chapter led by its President, Atty. Lucky M. Damasen. A half-day lecture series was delivered by the Prosecutors from Isabela and Quirino Province on Feb. 23 at the Conference Hall of SCPO.

The activity was attended by the different Station Commanders, Executive Senior Police Officers, Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) personnel, and Investigators. SCPO has four stations and five outposts called ‘BLESSED Post’ strategically located in Brgy. San Andres, Calaocan, Malvar, Sagana, and Balintocatoc.

Before the lecture proper started, PCol. Tirso B. Manoli, director of SCPO in his short message acknowledged the efforts of the IBP-Isabela Chapter. He said that the activity is advantageous not just to his personnel but to those who participated online. The activity was streamed live in all PNP stations regionwide.

Pros. May Aquino-Wong lectured on the Child Protection Act. She thoroughly discussed the proper ways in handling rape victims, especially in the process of gathering vital information. Next to her was Pros. Eve Jonapaula Obiña on Data Privacy Act, and Pros. Jonalyn V. Aquino on Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law.

The topics discussed were relevant to enhance and increase awareness in the application of the rules of law especially to the officers who deal with crime victims and law offenders.

An open forum was held before the activity was concluded. Pertinent questions regarding the in-quest proceedings in rape cases were asked. The Prosecutors including Atty. Damasen answered and shared in-depth insights regarding how the court appreciates the cases being filed.

The activity ended after the awarding of a Certificate of Appreciation to the lecturers and photo ops with the participants and the new lawyers who were present to show support to the chapter.# Mae Barangan
