PROJECT BONJING re-launched in collaboration with DOH-CAR, BCHSO, WCPD-BCPO, DepEd-CAR and in support of the City Government of Baguio

The Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Baguio City Police Office (CPO) actively participated in the launching of Project Bonjing held at Guisad Valley National High School in Bado Dangwa St., Baguio City on October 23, 2023.

The project was initiated by the Baguio City Health Services Office, headed by Dr. Celia Flor C. Brillantes, and was participated by the Department of Health- CAR Center for Development; Department of Education-CAR; and other government agencies and stakeholders.

During the activity, the WCPD personnel of Baguio CPO set up booths wherein they conducted a series of lectures and distributed flyers regarding RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act; RA 10627 or the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013; RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act; RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004; and the RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Project Bonjing started in 2004 with five modules regarding public health awareness, wherein teachers served as mental health advocates in peer counseling among students to help address the increasing number of suicide cases in the city.

This year, the project was relaunched with the support of the City Government of Baguio which aims to address the four major health issues among adolescents: the Smoke-Free campaign, Mental Health Awareness, Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness, and Adolescent Life Skills.
