PROCOR’S Anti-illegal logging drive nets .5M worth of illegaly sawn lumber for the month of February
CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – (March 1, 2021) – Police Regional Office Cordillera’s continuous conduct of intensified police operations yielded to the confiscation of half a million worth of abandoned illegally sawn assorted lumber for the month of February 2021 in the different provinces in the region.
For the month covered, Cordillera police has conducted a total of 57 anti-illegal logging operations that resulted to the confiscation of abandoned illegally sawn lumber with a total volume of 11,559.055 board feet amounting to Php 500,789.50.
Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) leads with a total of 43 successful operations leading to the confiscation of a total volume of 4,440 board feet of abandoned illegally sawn lumber worth Php 182,088.00, followed by Mountain Province PPO with 5 operations yielding Php 92,958.00 worth of lumber and Apayao PPO with 4 operations that resulted to the confiscation of lumber worth Php 116,604.50.
Also, more abandoned illegally sawn lumber were confiscated by Ifugao PPO with a total worth of Php 38,695.00, Kalinga PPO with Php 48,880.00, and Abra PPO with total worth of Php 21,564.00 illegal lumber.
Furthermore, six individuals were arrested during the course of the operations and cases for violation of PD 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines) were already filed against them. (RPIO)
