PROCOR TOP COP INSPECTS COMELEC CHECKPOINTS
PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD O LEE, randomly inspected the established COMELEC checkpoints to ensure its compliance to the existing guidelines and policies.
Under Comelec Resolution No. 10741, checkpoints must have properly labeled signage to notify the motorists of the checkpoint. It must bear the name of the Chief of police in the area. This should be positioned in a well-lit location that will not hamper the smooth flow of traffic and regular activities. Police officers on duty must always wear the prescribed uniform during checkpoints.
At 12:00 AM of January 9, 2022, the different units of Police Regional Office Cordillera simultaneously established COMELEC Checkpoints all throughout the region to signal the start of the 150-day election period for the May 2022 National and Local Election.
To ensure its compliance on the said COMELEC resolution, PBGEN LEE together with Atty. Ederlino U Tabilas, the Regional Director of COMELEC-CAR and Baguio City Police Office Director, PCOL GLENN LONOGAN inspected the established COMELEC Checkpoint in Marcos Highway.
Afterwards, PBGEN LEE together with Benguet Provincial Director PCOL REYNALDO PASIWEN proceeded in Tuba and La Trinidad to do the same.
PBGEN LEE reminded the public that they are not compelled to go out of their vehicles for physical check because the inspection is meant to proceed only through visual search.
According to the reports of the Regional Operations Management Division, there is a total of 110 PNP-COMELEC checkpoints established in the whole Cordillera manned by 1,080 PROCOR personnel.
Also, same report revealed that the conduct of the activity was generally peaceful and no untoward incidents were recorded. (PROCOR-PIO)
