PRO Cordillera RD PEREDO JR. take part in the unveiling of the Peace Marker in PMA

BAGUIO CITY – PRO Cordillera Regional Director,  PBGEN DAVID K. PEREDO JR.,  attended the unveiling of the Peace Marker held at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Longayban Hall, Fort Del Pilar, Baguio City, on September 12, 2023.

During the ceremony,  Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) led the unveiling of the peace marker together with Hon. Mayor Benjamin Magalong of Baguio City,  LTGEN ROWEN TOLENTINO,  PMA Superintendent, and Ms. Marcelina Bahatan representing the Cordillera Peoples Liberation Army.

Also present during the activity were Ms. Susana Guadalupe Marcaida, the Assistant Secretary of the OPAPRU; Armed Forces of the Philippines officials; PMA officials and cadets; and other peace partners and advocates.

The Longayban Peace Marker was installed in recognition of the staunch support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to the GPH-CBA – CPLA peace process in the pursuit of lasting peace and sustainable development in the Cordillera region.

The peace marker is the third to be installed in the Cordillera region and was purposely unveiled in celebration of Peace Month and also to commemorate the Mt. Data “Sipat,” or Peace Accord, that inspired the issuance of Executive Order No. 220 mandating the creation of the Cordillera Administrative Region. (PRO CORDILLERA-PIO / File Photos)
