PRO-CAR Turns Over Assistance to Nine Former Rebels
In its continued effort to support rebel returnees and assist in their reintegration into society, the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR) provided assistance to nine former rebels during a turnover ceremony held at the Multi-Purpose Center, Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet, on November 6, 2024.
The ceremony was led by PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR, the PRO-CAR Regional Director, and was graced by Mrs. Maria Catbagan-Aplaten, the Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), who served as the guest of honor and speaker.
Also in attendance were PBGEN PREXY D TANGGAWOHN, the Officer-In-Charge of the Area Police Command-Northern Luzon; PCOL JULIO S LIZARDO, the Chief Regional Staff; PCOL CHARLES L DOMALLIG, the Force Commander Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15); and other PRO-CAR personnel.
As a highlight of the program, the nine former rebels received cash assistance, food packs, hygiene kits, school supplies, 25-kilogram sacks of rice, and assorted groceries.
This support was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the 1st Civil Relations Group, the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital Incorporated, the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands, and the Battalion Advisory Group for Transformation and Development of RMFB15, under the Panag-aywan iti Kailyan Program of PRO-CAR.
In her message, Mrs. Catbagan-Aplaten emphasized the shared mission of the DSWD and PRO-CAR in ensuring that former rebels are not only safe but also valued as they reintegrate into society. She stressed that by treating each individual with respect, we lay the foundation for trust, understanding, and a brighter future.
She also highlighted the significance of the acronym “R-I-G-H-T-S,” which symbolizes key principles that we strive to uphold: R for Restoration and Respect, I for Inclusion and Independence, G for Growth and Guidance, H for Human Rights and Hope, T for Trust and Transformation, and S for Solidarity and Security.
