PHILIPPINE COLONIAL PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK LAUNCHED

In celebration of Cordillera Month, the Vibal Foundation launched a book “Philippine Colonial Photography 1860-1930” authored by Jonathan Best at the Museo Kordilyera on July 31, 2024.

The book showcases over 100 photographs by notable colonial photographers such as Henry Otley Beyer, Charles Martin, Dean Worcester, Fay-Cooper Cole and Mabel Cole, Albert and Maude Jenks, and Alfred Marche. Their works were used in popular magazines and government bulletins, as postcards and cartes de viste, and as embellished travel diaries and anthropological reports. Photo by Neil Clark Ongchangco
