Peaceful Polls Due to the Effective BCPO’s Security Plan
Through the close coordination of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), local government units (LGU), Department of Education (DepEd), and volunteer groups, the Baguio City Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) were generally peaceful, based on the real-time reports of the BCPO City Election Monitoring Action Center (CEMAC) and Stations Election Monitoring Action Center (SEMAC).
BCPO City Director PCOL FRANCISCO B BULWAYAN, JR., confirmed that no major crimes or election-related incidents were reported in the city during the recently concluded October 30 polls.
Also, BCPO-City Intelligence Unit (CIU) personnel have not monitored any movements from Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) on election day.
The massive deployment of more than 653 police officers was a major factor in deterring crimes and armed individuals and groups from pursuing malicious intent to disrupt the electoral exercises in Baguio City.
Meanwhile, the security personnel remain in their posts until after a total of 515 election paraphernalia and personnel have been withdrawn from the polling center to wrap up the final stages of its security operations at the polling precincts and voting centers.
Due to the current Code Red status, PCOL BULWAYAN JR. ordered that all police forces in Baguio City remain on full alert until UNDAS or the status is lifted.
Further, City Director recognizes the efforts of concerned offices and agencies, members of the community, the media, and stakeholders for their cooperation and collaborative efforts with the police force in upholding the integrity of the electoral system that resulted in an honest, orderly, and peaceful exercise. ### (BCPO-PIO)
