PDAO to prioritize children with disabilities for wheelchairs
The Persons with Disabilities Office (PDAO) announced that indigent children with disabilities will be the priority recipients of the three wheelchairs donated to the city by the P3PWD Party-list.
PDAO head Samuel Aquino expressed the city government’s gratitude to the party-list group for partnering with the Rotary Club of Baguio to assist the needy persons with disabilities (PWDs) to be able to perform their daily routine with the help of assistive devices, such as the wheelchairs.
Further, he also thanked Judge Mia Joy Cawed of the Regional Trial Court Branch 4, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Baguio (RCB), for making this donation possible for the city’s PWDs, especially the children with disabilities.
Last Monday, the P3PWD Party-list through the Rotary Club of Baguio turned over to the city government three pediatric wheelchairs for qualified indigent children with disabilities.
RCB president Francis Ali Morales said that its past president Judge Mia Joy Oallares- Cawed got in touch with Ellen Dayag of the City Social Welfare and Development Office for the process of selecting the most qualified PWD children who will be given the wheelchairs.
Aquino said his office is currently choosing three young and deserving PWDs from indigent families who will be given the wheelchairs.
He also expressed his elation that a PWD organization has finally succeeded in entering the Party-list system of Congress since this will give a voice to the country’s PWDs.
Aquino is hoping that the P3PWD Party-list will include PDAO and other PWD organizations in the process of formulating bills in Congress that will benefit PWDs.
Also present during the flag-raising activity was RCB guest, Rotary International District 3730 Governor Yu Dai Bong of Rotary Club of Wonju, South Korea. – Dexter A. See
