PASCHR 10 Confab to take place by February 22-24, hosted by DLSU, UST and BTech

The Philippine Association for the Study of Culture, History, and Religion (PASCHR) is going to have its 10th international conference with the theme “Weaving Southeast Asia’s Tapestry: The Philippines’ Integral Role in Exploring Culture, History, and Religions.” The 10th PASCHR International Conference is taking place on 22-24 February 2024. Day 1 would be at the Verdure, 4th Floor, Henry Sy Sr Hall, De La Salle University. Then, Day 2 at the 8th Floor, Buenaventura Garcia Paredes, O.P. Building, University of Santo Tomas. Finally, Day 3 would be a Historical and Cultural Tour of Bulacan Province.

The said confab is co-organized with De La Salle University Southeast Asia Research Center and Hub (DLSU-SEARCH), University of Santo Tomas College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (UST CTHM), UST Graduate School Center for the Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics (USTGS-CCCPET), and  Baliwag Polytechnic College (BTECH)

The 10th PASCHR International Conference focuses on the Philippines within the broader Southeast Asian narrative that will delve into the understanding of the interconnectedness and shared heritage of this vibrant region.

The theme of the conference positions the Philippines as a pivotal point in the study of Southeast Asia. As a diverse country with a rich cultural heritage, the Philippines offers a unique perspective within the broader Southeast Asian context. Overall, the conference endeavors to shed light on the country’s significant contributions to understanding culture, history, and religions.

Sub-themes include Philippine Contemporary Issues and Future Perspectives; Art, Literature, and Performance; Survey on Oral Traditions and Linguistic Diversity; Cultural Exchanges and Tourism; Historical Narratives of the Philippines in Southeast Asia; and Religious Dynamics in Southeast Asia.

PASCHR is officially recognized as the national association of the South and Southeast Asian Association for the Study of Culture and Religion (SSEASR). It operates under the policies and principles of the parent body, International Association for the History of Religions (IAHR), which seeks to promote the activities of all scholars and affiliates that contribute to the historical, social, and comparative study of religion. The IAHR is a member of the International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies (CIPSH), established under the auspices of UNESCO. (PR)
