P15M DA-funded CVAO projects undergoing bidding process
City Veterinary and Agriculture Office (CVAO) head Dr. Silardo Bested said the various projects under his office worth more than P15-million and funded by the Department of Agriculture-CAR are undergoing the bidding process before their implementation this year.
He said the funding was made possible through the efforts of Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
These are the Chicken Multiplier Breeder Facility costing P2-million; Rabbit Multiplier Breeder Facility, P1-million; Solar-Powered Irrigation System (SPIS), P750,000; Pump Irrigation System Open Source (PISOS), P2-million; and Urban Model Farm Cum Vegetable and Seedling Production at a cost of P10-million.
The Chicken Multiplier Breeder Facility will be located at the CVAO, Slaughter Compound, Sto Nino barangay with interested and validated Baguio residents as beneficiaries; while the Rabbit Multiplier Breeder Facility will be at Purok 12 Apugan, Irisan barangay with the Irisan Rabbit Farmers Association composed of 20 rabbit breeders as beneficiaries.
Bested said location for the SPIS is at Purok 2, Irisan with 30 farmers from Puroks 1,2,9 of the barangay as beneficiaries; while five units of PISOS will be installed at Sto. Tomas Central barangay benefitting three farmers’ associations and seven units at Camp 7 to benefit two farmers’ associations.
Six units of PISOS will be installed at Happy Hallow barangay that will benefit two farmers’ associations while two units are targeted for Dontogan barangay with a farmers’ association as beneficiary.For the Model Farm Cum Vegetable and Seedling Production, Bested said, one unit each is targeted for Camp 7; Happy Hallow; Irisan; Sto. Nino,Slaughter Compound; and Sto. Tomas Central that will benefit eight farmers’ associations and interested local residents. – Gaby B. Keith
