Over P1.6 M used in PROCOR’S BARANGAYANIHAN activities
CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – (May 11, 2021) – Aimed to provide assistance to the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Police Regional Office Cordillera in collaboration with its partners has doled out over 1.6 million pesos worth thru the different BARANGAYanihan programs launched from April 22 to May 9, 2021.
For the period covered, PROCOR conducted 1,668 BARANGAYanihan in various parts of the region. A total amount of Php 1,698,933.00 was spent to establish the BARANGAYanihan activities distributed to the following units: 2 in Regional Headquarters; 504 in Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO); 144 in Apayao PPO; 230 in Baguio; Benguet PPO with 182; Ifugao PPO with 178; Kalinga PPO with 138 and Mt. Province with 292 activities.
“BARANGAYanihan”, coined from the words “barangay” (village) and “Bayanihan” (cooperative endeavor), refers to PNP efforts to help people affected by crises.
The activities aim to provide relief to communities affected by the pandemic, enhance people’s awareness of the programs initiated by the PNP, and strengthen the relationship between police and community.
The funds used for the projects come from voluntary contributions of PROCOR personnel and collaborative partners supporting PNP programs which benefited 27,716 Cordilleran people.
Among the BARANGAYanihan activities were delivery of relief items in remote areas, a cooked food offering, a vegetable garden for the community, “Libreng Sakay” for those going out for essential activities, “Libreng Gupit”, free circumcision, patubig, and others that are relevant to the respective barangays. ###
