Over P1.4M marijuana recovered from an accident in Benguet

Two individuals will now be facing charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after they were caught transporting marijuana in Kennon Road, Camp 4, Tuba, Benguet on July 3, 2022.

According to the reports submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN RONALD OLIVER LEE, the arrested suspects were identified as Jimmsie Galang Salazar, 40, resident of Bacoor, Cavite and Justine Jerome Baisa, 28, resident of San Mateo, Rizal.

According to the same report, the suspects were involved in a vehicular traffic accident wherein their vehicle’s brake malfunctioned which caused the driven vehicle to flip.

When the personnel of BCPO Kennon Road Police Station (PS8) arrived on the scene, a resident of the said place tipped that a box was thrown on the cliff by the two suspects.

Upon checking, 12 tubes of dried marijuana leave weighing more or less 12,000 grams with a standard drug price of Php 1,440,000.00 were discovered by the operatives which prompted the immediate arrest of the two suspects.

Markings and inventory of the confiscated pieces of evidence recovered were conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspects and duly witnessed by Brgy. Kagawad Domingo Wayan of Brgy. Camp Four and Dionisio Dennis Jr, media representative.

The arrested suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Tuba MPS for documentation and proper disposition. (PROCOR-PIO)
