Over 15M worth of Marijuana Bricks intercepted in Kalinga
An individual will now be facing charges for Violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after he was arrested for transporting marijuana bricks with over Php 15,000,000 worth in Brgy. Dupag, Tabuk City, Kalinga morning of September 2, 2022.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN MAFELINO A BAZAR, the suspect was identified as Jerry Salang-oy Alunday aka “Wayaway”, 31 years old, and a resident of Brgy. Bugnay, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
According to Tabuk City Police Station (CPS), they received information from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) operatives that a white van was transporting marijuana from Tinglayan going to Tabuk City.
Acting on the information, PLTCOL DINULONG B TOMBALI, Chief of Police of Tabuk CPS immediately coordinated with PLTCOL JEFFREY B VICENTE, Force Commander of the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC).
Then, personnel of the 2nd Kalinga PMFC established a checkpoint in Brgy. Dinakan, Lubuagan, Kalinga however upon the arrival of the said vehicle at the area, it ran over the checkpoint.
The 2nd Kalinga PMFC immediately notified the Pasil MPS, Balbalan MPS, and Tabuk CPS for possible interception of the fleeing vehicle.
Fortunately, in Brgy. Dupag, Tabuk City, the said vehicle was intercepted by the operatives of Tabuk CPS which resulted in the apprehension of the suspect and the confiscation of one hundred twenty-six (126) marijuana bricks and four (4) pieces of tubular form dried marijuana weighing 130,000 grams with a Standard Drug Price of Php 15,600,000.00.
Inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered was conducted on-site in the presence of the arrested suspect and witnessed by Marianie Dumpao, DOJ Representative; Janet Alagao, Media representative; and Kagawad Catherine Auggas of Brgy. Dupag.
Further, the suspect and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of Tabuk CPS for documentation and proper disposition.
In a statement, PBGEN BAZAR commended the Kalinga cops for their prompt response to the incident.
“Patunay ito na ang kapulisan ng PROCOR ay seryoso sa pagpapatupad ng mga kampanya laban sa iligal na droga hindi lamang sa pamamagitan ng pagsira ng ibat-ibang marijuana plantation sites kundi na rin ang mahigpit na pagmamanman at paghuli sa mga nagtatangkang magpuslit ng iligal na droga palabas sa rehiyon” PBGEN BAZAR said.
