Outstanding Youth Leaders in city commended

City officials recently congratulated and commended the outstanding youth leaders and organizations in the city for this year.

Under Resolution No. 630, series of 2023, local legislators stated that the city government recognizes and appreciates the unwavering commitment of the youth leaders and organizations to the betterment of the community and their embodiment of the principles of good governance, leadership and social responsibility.

Further, the body stated that the outstanding youth leaders and organizations of the city for this year have demonstrated exceptional dedicated and exemplary service in their respective roles, making them deserving of commendation and recognition for their commendable efforts.

The city government, in its commitment to promoting the welfare and active participation of the youth, has always valued the significant role played by young leaders and youth organizations in contributing to the city’s development.

Section 12 of the 1987 Constitution provides that the State recognizes the vital role of the youth in nation-building and shall promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social wellbeing. It shall inculcate in the youth patriotism and nationalism and encourage their involvement in public and civic affairs.

Moreover, Section 120 of Ordnance No. 53, series of 2023 provides for the annual conduct of the youth leaders and organizations awards where the City Youth Development office and the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation (SKF) shall take the lead in its implementation.

The 2023 search for the outstanding youth leaders and organizations was spearheaded by the City Youth Development Office. The said search is an integral part of the observance of the Linggo ng Kabataan to recognize the outstanding youth leaders and organizations who have undoubtedly exhibited extraordinary contributions to the city’s development.

The 2023 outstanding youth leaders and organizations of the city whose exemplary dedication, tireless efforts and invaluable contributions have advanced the welfare of the city are Carla Joy Cacho – Chairperson of SK, Irisan barangay; Julie Grace Bandao – SK Chairperson – Sto. Tomas Proper barangay; Alpha Bagowan – SK Chairperson, Dontogan barangay; Adrell Kent Mencias – SK Chairperson – Aurora Hill Proper barangay; Jef Mitzel Paran – SK Chairperson – Trancoville barangay; Garth Erwin Soriano – SK Chairperson East Bayan Park barangay; Angelo dela Cruz – SK Chairperson, Imelda Marcos barangay; Van Paulo Sanchez – SK Chairperson, Brookspoint barangay; Carol Tomas – SK Chairperson, Padre Zamora barangay; Haidee Grace Balangitan – SK Chairperson, Loakan Proper barangay and Jezreel Alcantara – SK Chairperson – Greenwater barangay.

On the other hand, the outstanding organizations were Red Cross Youth–Baguio chapter; Anxiety and Depression Support Group–Youth; JCI Las Chicas del Baguio; United Volleyball Club–Baguio-Benguet; and Youth for Peace–Baguio chapter. – Dexter A. See
