The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples – Cordillera Administrative Region (NCIP-CAR) withdrew the show cause order it had issued to Hedcor on December 28, 2020, after verifying that Hedcor is fully compliant with the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) provisions for all its hydropower plants in the region.
NCIP-CAR Regional Director Atty Marlon Bosantog recognized Hedcor’s explanation and said, “Considering the FPIC process has already commenced on the Sal-angan Hydro Plant, the show cause is withdrawn.”
Through the continuing partnership with NCIP-CAR, Hedcor looks forward to completing the FPIC process for all pending applications at the soonest possible time. The company believes in providing IP shares to help support the IPs local programs to preserve their diverse culture and traditions.
The IPs’ confidence in Hedcor’s operations will enable the hydro firm to continue its commitment to upholding the culture and rights of our IPs brothers and sisters.
Since the construction of the power plants in the Cordilleras, Hedcor has been proactively supporting its host community partners by providing local employment opportunities and projects in the areas of education, health, livelihood, environment and other essential projects.
While Hedcor is supporting the IP communities, Hedcor has also the responsibility to contribute to the country’s renewable energy aspiration as being one of the pioneers of renewable energy in the Philippines. This is a testament of the company’s commitment to its purpose of advancing business and communities. ###
