MURAL PAINTING RIBBON CUTTING IN BAGUIO CENTER MALL

BAGUIO CITY – (January 30, 2025) Baguio Center Mall unveiling of the mural collaborated upon by the members of the Baguio Elderly Artists Council (BEAC) With the presence of Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Councilor John Rhey Mananeng, Councilor Lulu Tabanda and Councilor Leandro Yangot.

Members of the Baguio Elderly Artist Council represented by Santiago Tagapong and Arnold Ramos – all whom worked with Ms. Pam Cariño, to bring this mural to fruition.

In a message from Center Manager Johan Teope, “As we have stated before, we have faith in our Senior Artists, Senior Citizens continue to play a vital role in our society and more importantly, in the development of the following generations.

“Paraphasing President Reagan in his speech on the contributions of Senior Citizens to Society, “Our Senior Citizens are an underground spring that steadily, through silently, continues to make the ground greener,”

“We hope that BEAC’s work here will be an introduction into the artform for some of our youth and , through BEAC, encourages them to explore the arts through intergenerational engagements observing the mantra of “Transforming something ordinary into extraordinary,” Thank you and congratulations.

Mayor Magalong extended warm greetings and gratitude to the participants who shared their work.

In the mayor’s message, “Ang mural na ito ay isang inspirasyon para sa mga taong tumatangkilik sa mga pumapasok sa mall na ito, dahil dito ay patuloy na lalakas ang ating adhikain at yayabong ang kultura at sining.

“Ang aming mainit na pagbati sa lahat ng mga miembro ng Baguio Elderly Artists Council (BEAC) dahil sa kanilang taglay na talento hindi lang sa kanilang galing kundi nagmamalasakit at nagbabahagi ng kanilang kaalaman sa pagpinta, caricature, ang inyong pagpupursige ay patunay na ang sining ay napakahalaga sa buhay ng isang artists hangad natin na mas marami pa tayong magagawa ng mga makabuluhang sining at kultura sa ating lungsod, nawa’y magpatuloy tayo sa pagsuporta sa BEAC at lalong lalo na sa kanilang mga obra nagbibigay kulay sa ating buhay, Maraming Salamat,” Magalong concluded.
