Motorcyle rider nabbed after dropping illegal gun during checkpoint
Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet – (March 12, 2021) – A 27-year-old sales boy was nabbed after accidentally dropping an improvised firearm while being checked during a checkpoint operation in Bangued, Abra on March 7, 2021.
According to the report of Abra PPO Director, PCOL CHRISTOPHER ACOP, during the conduct of checkpoint in Bangued, police flagged down a Honda XRM110 motorcycle with plate no. AQ6511 driven by Christopher B Siobal, 23, mechanic together with Benie B Bobias, 27, sales boy.
Initially, the driver Siobal, was apprehended for violation of Memorandum Order No. 57 (Riding in Tandem), no driver’s license, and no OR/CR (Official Receipt/ Certificate of Registration).
As the apprehending officers were checking for their identity of the driver, suspect Bobias accidentally dropped a homemade improvised Cal. 40 pistol from his sling bag. This prompted the police officers to immediately arrest the suspect.
Suspect Bobias and the confiscated firearm were brought to Bangued Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition while a case for violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) was prepared against him. (PROCOR PIO)
