Monitoring of establishments’ compliance with covid protocols continuing

BAGUIO CITY – (11 March 2021) – Day and night inspections of business establishments are being done regularly to ensure their compliance with the minimum public health standards as a safety measure against the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

City Licensing Officer Allan Abayao said that January 1 to Feb. 20 this year, 14 rounds of inspection had been jointly undertaken by the Permits and Licensing Division, Public Order and Safety Division, the City Tourism Operations Office and the Baguio City Police Office.

From the 187 establishments checked, 31 had been issued notices of violations for breach of protocols particularly the requirements on the use of face masks as per Ordinance No. 45-2020; social distancing (Ordinance No. 46-20202); face shield (Executive Order no. 93-2020); sale or consumption of liquor (E.O. 171 and 195) and the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) guidelines.

For the individual violators, the BCPO and the POSD have been actively monitoring streets and places of convergence to ensure that people are complying with the health and safety measures.

The city government had collected a total of P232,000 in payment of penalties for said violations from January 1 to March 6 this year.

Records from the City Treasury Office showed the amount was from a total of 228 receipts for the payments made by individuals and establishments who violated either of the face mask, face shield, social distancing or liquor rules. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
