Missed saddle forecast all for good – Mayor
Mayor Benjamin Magalong’s forecast of a mild saddle in Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases did not materialize and the city executive is more than thankful for it.
“My forecasts seldom miss but for some reason this projection on a saddle last weekend did not happen and it’s all for good,” the mayor said.
He said it only proved that the city has sustained the downward trend in cases.
“It means we are doing okay but still we have to remain vigilant and not lapse into complacency,” the mayor said.
He said the city should take the opportunity to build more slack and prepare in case a saddle occurs as what is being experienced in Europe and some parts of the United States.
He said the city will see to it that control systems like contact tracing, testing and other Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) strategies will continue to be in place while it will continue to ramp up vaccination efforts.
“We have enough slack and logistics and our cases are now down to single digit but even with this development, we can’t relax instead we continue to be vigilant and remain on our guard against another surge,” the mayor said. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
