Mines View agri-tourism fair set May 16-31
City officials recently approved the request of the Mines View Park Barangay Farmers Association for the conduct of an agri-tourism fair in the barangay to showcase their own produce such as agricultural commodities and by-products as part of the celebration of the Urban Farmers and Fisherfolks month from May 16-31, 2024 subject to conditions.
Under Resolution No. 287, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the members of the association will directly benefit their families and help them sustain their agri-based livelihood through direct marketing.
Among the conditions imposed by the council for the conduct of the fair include for the association shall secure barangay business clearance, secure clearance from the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) if within the parks or clearance from the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) if outside the parks, secure clearance from the City Health Services Office (CHSO) for food stalls and to pay business tax and follow minimum public health and safety standards.
Earlier, the council considered a letter dated April 25, 2024 of City Veterinarian Dr. Silardo B. Bested requesting for favorable consideration and approval of the request of the Mines View Park Barangay Farmers Association for the conduct of an agri-tourism fair at Mines View to showcase their own produce such as agricultural commodities and by-products from May 1-31, 2024 as part of the celebration of the Urban Farmers and Fisherfolks month in the city.
The council tasked the Mines view barangay to identify the specific areas for the venue of the proposed activity that will be beneficial to the participating farmers.
Moreover, the body also tasked the City Permits and Licensing Division under the City Mayor’s Office to strictly monitor the conduct of this activity to ensure the compliance of the participating members to the prescribed conditions.
The council required the Mines View Park Barangay Farmers Association to submit to the body a terminal report after the conduct of their activity. – Dexter A. See
