Mayor reminds drivers to uphold road discipline at all times

While Baguio City is known for its honest and kind drivers, its road discipline is not completely foolproof.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong today reminded public and private vehicle drivers that “Baguio City is a Traffic Discipline Zone” and that they must always conduct themselves in accordance with this distinction.

“Let us always keep in mind that as drivers, we have responsibility not only to our passengers but also to the pedestrians.  Let us uphold discipline at all times,” he said.

“Drivers must give pedestrians the right of way in every situation;

“Drivers must yield to pedestrians crossing the street at crosswalks and traffic lights; and

Drivers must allow pedestrians to cross when entering or exiting an establishment’s parking lot.”

He also encouraged drivers to continue espousing honesty and kindness.

He said these traits of the city’s drivers have set the city apart from other localities and thus have become a source of pride for its residents.

“We value our drivers and their contributions to our economy and to maintaining public order and safety in our city,” he said. – Aileen P. Refuerzo
