Mayor: Beware of Fixers

9 December 2022 –  Mayor Benjamin Magalong has warned the public against dealing with fixers or individuals offering illegal bookkeeping services for their City Hall transactions.

He said the City Government strictly follows the “No to Fixer” policy under the Republic Act 9845 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 which imposes stiff penalty on fixers to wit, imprisonment not exceeding 6 six years or a fine of not more than P200,000 or both.

The mayor said his office has been receiving reports that unscrupulous individuals posing as legitimate bookkeepers are name dropping officials and employees of City Hall to obtain money from their clients.

“There were clients coming to my office complaining that they paid certain amount to the bookkeepers allegedly for City Hall workers who were demanding money for ‘merienda.’  We have a strict policy against fixers and I believe that these fixers were just out to milk their clients,” the mayor said.

He asked the public to immediately report fixers to 911 through direct call or through the Baguio in my Pocket app. –Aileen P. Refuerzo
