Mayor appeals for discipline as people ignore trash bins
Mayor Benjamin Magalong has voiced out displeasure at the irresponsible behavior of people coming to the night market who carelessly throw their refuse deliberately disregarding the trash bins stationed in the area.
“We have already provided garbage bins. All they had to do was dump their litter in those cans and they can’t even do just that? How irresponsible!,” the mayor lamented.
A photo provided by the Public Order and Safety Division taken by a vendor showed litter scattered around an empty trash bin obviously ignored by the people.
โThe trash bin is literally just inches away from where people lacking discipline have decided to leave their trash… Utterly unbelievable!โ POSD head enforcer Daryll Longid said.
Littering has been identified as a serious concern at the night market site prompting the City Environment and Parks Management Office and the POSD to provide several bins stationed in strategic areas purposely to encourage people to observe proper waste disposal.
The mayor said the city will be constrained to do some drastic measures to address the problem.
โThis behavior has to be put to stop once and for all,” the mayor intoned. โ Aileen P. Refuerzo
