Mathematical Olympiad Medalists recognized

City officials recently commended and congratulated Rynne Daven A. Barrios and Ryl Aaron Montebon, both of the University of Baguio (UB) Science High School for clinching gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the recently concluded Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad held on April 2, 2023.

In a resolution, local legislators stated that the outstanding performances of Barrios and Montebon have portrayed unquestionable discipline and academic excellence that serve as inspiration and motivation for the whole city where the same is worthy of emulation, especially among the youth.

The Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad 2023 is a world class Math Olympiad that has one of the highest global standards for academic excellence, and is among the most respected and desirable competitions in the Asia-Pacific and the whole world.

Further, the said competition is a scientific and academic event that evaluates the strength of student-Olympiads on logics on logical thinking, Algebra, number theory, Geometry and combinatorics.

Among the participants in the said Olympiad are students from the University of Baguio Science High School who displayed outstanding attitude towards accepting mathematical challenges during the Math Olympiad and for representing the city among other participants from the country and from 18 other countries in the different parts of the world.

Barrios, a student from the said school, bagged the gold medal under the category for Grade 12 students beating other students from the Philippines and Montebon, a Grade 9 student from the same school, bagged the bronze medal and both are members of the official onsite Philippine team.
