MASSIVE DESTRUCTION OF WEIGHING SCALES

The cumulative inventory of confiscated, surrendered and turned over weighing scales is a total of 1,372 for several years. In an interview to Baguio Market Superintendent Fernando D. Ragma Jr.  “The purpose of this destruction is to give awareness to the public, the city does it to ensure welfare into protection of the consumer in fact naglagay kami ng seven units  (7) Timbangan ng Bayan here inside the Public Market para magamit kung nag-aalangan ang mga consumer na kulang sa timbang ang nabili nila ay lumapit agad sa amin immediately para puntahan yun lugar at kung mapatunayan ay puwedeng kasuhan o outright confiscation or penalty of P1,000 but not more than P5,000 or (6) Six month imprisonment at the discretion of the court,”   The destruction of the weighing scales was witnessed by members of the Baguio City Market Authority led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong and City Administrator Bonifacio dela Peña held at fronting COMPAC 1 this 3 o clock in the afternoon.  Photos by:  Mario Oclaman/FNS
