Magalong appeals to barangays to lessen gatherings
Avoid thanksgiving celebrations and unnecessary gatherings.
This was the appeal of Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong to barangay leaders in a press briefing Tuesday, 11 January 2022, amid the threat of Coronavirus disease (COVID) 2019’s omicron variant.
“With the continuous threat of the omicron variant, I appeal to the public, especially barangay officials, to avoid or postpone social gatherings and thanksgiving celebrations due to the risk of transmission,” Mayor Magalong said.
He also reminded the public to protect themselves when joining political campaign sorties and follow campaign rules of the Commission on Elections.
“As far as the local government unit is concerned, make sure there are no unnecessary gatherings. If it is not essential or not critical, avoid crowd gatherings including thanksgiving celebrations,” the mayor iterated.
He also appeals for everyone’s cooperation by not being complacent and continues to follow health protocols, including wearing of facemask, social distancing, avoiding crowded places and getting themselves vaccinated.
“If we cooperate and collaborate, we will be able to deal with this omicron variant,” he said. – Jessa P. Samidan
