Lucban Health Center formally opened after the renovation through the SM Foundation
BAGUIO CITY – (December 18, 2023) A newly renovated Lucban Health Center in T. Alonzo barangay was recently handed over by SM Foundation and SM City Baguio to the local government unit headed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
After the ribbon cutting, Markers installation, and the health center’s blessing, a simple program followed and distinguished guests expressed their message.
City Health Officer Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes said, “Transforming Lucban Health Center something that I know with a population of 26 barangays, and we hoping more health centers that will be transform not only perhaps by SM but of course by the local government and that with the support of the mayor alam po namin na marami pong mararating mga health center na ganito ang disenyo at kami ay namamangha naririto kami ngayon sa harapan ng Lucban health center transform into a very beautiful and amazing health center, Maraming Salamat po,”Brillantes concluded
Regional Operations Manager Supermalls Rona Vida Correa said, “We, from SM Foundation, SM Supermalls, and SM City Baguio are honored to welcome you to the turnover ceremony of this upgraded Lucban Health Center,”

SM Foundation Executive Director for Health and Medical Programs Connie Angeles aforesaid about the modernization of Lucban Health Center, “Nagpapasalamat kami sa City Government of Baguio nabigyan kami ng pagkakataon para maisaayos itong community health center at tulad nitong dating health center, ngayon ay makikita natin na napakaganda at bagong modernisasyon dahil naniniwala kami na kapag maayos at maganda ay magiging komportable ito hindi lamang para sa mga medical personnel na nangangasiwa nito kundi pati na rin sa mga community members na nagpapa check-up at isa pang gusto namin mangyari ay talagang palakasin ang mga health centers ng sa ganun ay hindi na nila kailangan magpunta pa sa mga hospital para sa mga simple ailments na kayang kaya naman gamutin dito sa health center so, nang sa ganun makakabawas rin ito pagdami ng mga pasyente sa mga ospital dahil ginagawa natin na malakas at capable na ang ating mga health center hindi lamang dito sa Baguio kundi sa lahat ng mga centers sa buong kapuluan, at itong Lucban Health Center ay talagang sinadya namin gawin ito sa panahong ito para maging maagang Christmas gift namin sa inyong lahat dito sa Baguio City lalong lalo na duon sa mga 26 barangays ng naaabot ng serbisyo nito, maliban dito ay kinumpleto rin namin ang pharmacy para dun sa mga may sakit na simple na hindi na kailangan bilhin sa mga drugstore dahil capable na ang inyong pharmacy dito sa Lucban Health Center,” Angeles concluded.
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said, “Labis kami nagpapasalamat sa SM Foundation dahil talagang na transform nila itong health center natin that something really very presentable amazing ang transformation at napakaganda pati yun mga design at ibang facilities ay very functional kaya this will now serve as standard, and the plan for renovation of 5 other health center ito na yun magiging standard, umabot ito ng P2.7 milyon nagulat nga ako dahil 2.7M spending so much pero maganda hindi natin ma achieve yun ganito kaayos, maganda, malinis yun quality ng mga materyales at mga facilities sa loob,” Magalong said.
The Lucban Health Center is the 201st improved health facility all over the country and the 3rd wellness center for Baguio. The health center’s renovation took almost two months to complete.
Medical services for the Lucban Health Center will be offered to 26 barangays with a population of 38,163 individuals. Services include general consultation, prenatal check-ups, child immunization, TB DOTS, and family planning among others.
The newly renovated health center is a two-story includes a consultation & amp; post consultation room, pharmacy, triage area, minor OR/treatment room, autoclave area, sputum collection corner, physician’s room, pantry, lounge, handwashing area, nursing office, and garbage collection area on the first floor while the second floor has a family planning room, prenatal and vaccination room, dental & adolescent room and midwife office.
Sustainable solutions were integrated into the physical infrastructure such as the installation of a rainwater catchment system, energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures, and utilized inverter appliances to optimize consumption.
SM Foundation also provided the health center with a mobile play cabinet for children, and a breastfeeding room to ensure the comfort of mothers as they breastfeed their babies in the center. ### Photo by: Mario Oclaman //FNS
