Liquor ban imposed at Baguio Bar Exams area on Sept. 17, 20 and 24
Mayor Benjamin Magalong issued, Sept. 14, executive order no. 118, 2023, imposing a liquor ban within the 50-meter radius of Saint Louis University (SLU) for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the 2023 Bar Examinations slated on September 17, 20 and 24, this year.
It stated that the Supreme Court of the Philippines, city government of Baguio, and SLU are “committed to ensuring order and safety of the examination site.”
City legal officer Althea Alberto disclosed that a total of 1,049 hopefuls are set to take the Bar exams in the Summer Capital.
To take effect immediately, the EO imposes a ban on public consumption and selling , dispensing, distributing, and serving of liquor and other alcoholic beverages within a 50-meter radius of SLU, Upper Bonifacio St., Baguio City on the following dates:
a. Midnight of 16 Sept. 2023 up to 10 pm of 17 Sept. 2023;
b. Midnight of 19 Sept. 2023 up to 10 pm of 20 Sept. 2023; and
c. Midnight of 23 Sept. up to 10 pm of 24 Sept. 2023.
The EO warns that violations of its provisions shall be dealt with according to existing laws and city ordinances, so applicable; and directs all concerned departments to “ensure a safe, peaceful, and orderly examination period at SLU during the said dates.” – Gaby B. Keith
