Labor Day Kadiwa Farmers Market okayed
City officials recently approved the request for the use of Malcolm Squatter or Peoples Park as the official venue for the Labor Day Kadiwa Farmers’ Market 2024 from April 26-30, 2024 in the city.
Under Resolution No. 246, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the Committee on Market, Trade, Commerce and Agriculture, in its 3rd indorsement dated February 15, 2024, recommended approval of the said request.
Earlier, the council considered as the letter dated April 5, 2024 of the local chief executive requesting the use of Malcolm Square or Peoples Park as the official venue for the Labor Day Kadiwa Farmers’ Market 2024 from April 26-30, 2024 and that the rental fees as well as the fees levied for the use of electricity and special permits be waived.
The body pointed out that one of the most helpful components of the annual Labor Day celebration is the conduct of a Kadiwa Farmers’ Market which aims to hep city-based farmers by highlighting the excellent of the locally grown agricultural crops and providing a venue where the said goods may be sold at reasonable prices without the additional cost imposed by middlemen.
Further, the conduct of the Kadiwa Farmers’ Market is likewise a presidentially mandated component of the national celebration of Labor Day on May 1, 2024.
Various farmers are expected to actively participate in the aforesaid event for them to be able to showcase their quality produce at very affordable prices that will allow them to earn from the said event considering that it will be conducted right at the heart of the city where there is a heavy foot traffic.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the concerned offices of the local government and other national government agencies in the city for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. – Dexter A. See
